For those of you who don’t already know, we recently purchased a sailboat. A 36 foot Cascade sloop that will be our home and means of travelling the world for the forseeable future. We are currently moored in Ladner, just south of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada.
Outfitting, making repairs and mental preparations for life offshore has been fun and challenging. The time for us to cast off the dock lines and set sail south on our first leg of the voyage is rapidly approaching and the projects are backing up. Sewing, provisioning and packing our lives into our floating home takes up most of our days, while riding our folding bikes to town to pick up an inordinate amount of materials for the next project and watching DVD’s accounts for the rest.
When the tides, current and weather coincide to produce a rare “nice” day for boating we untie and head out through the swing-bridge at Westham Island to make the most of beautiful BC.
Next on the agenda is an overland trip to Raymond, AB. Lacey’s little sister is graduating from high school and we will be catching up with a good chunk of her extended family over the next week. When we get back a relocation to Seattle is scheduled for the 1st of July. And so it begins.
Hi Lacey and Ferg,
Wow. I was wondering what happened to you two. It sounds like you are ready for some fun adventures.
Where in Seattle are you going to dock? Let me know. I have a friend who lives in Seattle who races sailboats. Maybe you can meet up with him at some point when you are there. He may be a good connection to have in that area. I’ll email him and see where he keeps his boat.
And I was thinking it may be fun to do a story on you two for PoloZONE.com. Or if you want to write one up with a few photos I’ll publish it. I think a lot of people would love to see what you are doing and to see that there is life outside of polo (:
Love your blog. Can’t wait to read more about your adventures! Makes me want to sell the house and take off on an adventure of my own.
Good luck with your journey and stay safe!
Lynn
